Summary

The SIGIR 2019 Workshop on eCommerce (ECOM19) was held to discuss Information Retrieval and NLP research in the domain of eCommerce. The workshop aimed to bring together practitioners and researchers to discuss challenges and approaches to product search and recommendation in eCommerce. Keynote speakers presented on user behavior and building knowledge graphs for products. Papers were presented on relevance ranking, product size recommendations, and context-aware product search. The workshop also included a panel discussion on eCommerce versus web search, highlighting the differences between the two. A High Accuracy Recall Challenge was organized to address relevance in deterministic sort orders on eCommerce platforms. The workshop concluded with discussions on future directions and the importance of community engagement in the eCommerce domain.
